Good Evaluations for Thermo-Hemp
Grand Designs Award
In May 2006, the leading British specialist publishing house chose Thermo-Hemp as the best ecological building product in the United Kingdom.
Natureplus

Europeans spend about 90% of their lifetime inside of buildings. Even a low concentration of harmful substances in living spaces can damage people's health. Therefore, healthy construction materials produced in harmony with the environment are important for a sustainable development.
"natureplus" is the international quality label for environmentally friendly, healthy and functional building products.
In June 2002, Thermo-Hemp was the first insulation made of natural fibres in Europe to be awarded with the "natureplus" quality label. The listing of all components ensures transparency in the sense of sustainable consumer protection.
Thermo-Hemp consists of:
82 - 85 % Hemp fibres
10 - 15 % Bi-component fibres
3 - 5 % Soda for fire protection
The board for healthy living and building hygiene of the Society of Hygiene and Environmental Sciences awarded Thermo-Hemp the certificate "recommended for healthy living".
The board consists of scientists of different areas of expertise, mainly of doctors and biologists.
The award is granted after testing and analysing the suggested products by the professional board. The tests are carried out according to preassigned awarding requirements such as health agreeableness, low emission, positive influence on the indoor climate and comfort, improvement of the air quality as well as further building-biological criteria.
The certification of Thermo-Hemp was published in the December 2005 issue of the healthy living magazine "Wohnmedizin".
Stiftung Warentest
In order to give the consumers an overview of the different possibilites of roof insulation, "Stiftung Warentest", a German product testing association, chose 19 insulation materials to test them for their handling. The branded insulation Thermo-Hemp of the company Hock in Nördlingen/Bavaria received the quality evaluation "good (1,9)" in this test and was assessed as the best insulation made of renewable primary products for insulation between the rafters.
The results were published in the issue 10/2005 of the magazine of the product testing association "Stiftung Warentest". The insulation test can be called up at http://www.test.de/.
Magazine Öko-Test

Magazine Öko-Test, the magazine of a product testing association which tests products on ecological qualities, has now also tested 23 insulation materials. The test team of the Fraunhofer institute for construction physics paid special attention to heat protection and the components of the insulation materials.
Thermo-Hemp was assessed as "good" in total with the evaluations "very good" and "good" in both test parameters. The ecological testers, as well, came to the conclusion that the installation of a thermal insulation is worthwhile given the future energy saving, and, most notably: It makes one independent of the price carrousel of the energy suppliers.
The insulation test was published in the issue 11/2005 of the Öko-Test magazine. A summary of the test report can be read at http://www.oekotest.de/.
R-Symbol

Since June 2004, Thermo-Hemp bears the "R-symbol" which stands for a binding full declaration of the resources used in a product.
These resources are:
Fossil (red)
Mineral (yellow)
Renewable (green)
